Ideas for Using Pictures in Language Teaching:
  • List all the nouns, colors, shapes, etc.
  • Use prepositions to describe the photos
  • Make up statements about the people in the pictures
  • Compare and contrast two different pictures
  • Use an action verb to describe the photo
  • Use an adjective to describe the photo or vice versa
  • Have students find a photo to match a vocabulary word
  • Use the "interestingness" link for writing prompts
  • Ask inference questions
  • Minimal pairs: ship/sheep
  • Idiomatic expressions
  • Have kids retell a story with images with flickr
  • Use with Moviemaker, PowerPoint, PhotoStory, Word, Keynote, Pages, embed them in webpages, email them to people
